Watertown detectives arrested Youssef Mohammed, 22, on the charges of reckless endangerment, kidnapping with a firearm, home invasion, burglary, larceny, and robbery, said the Watertown Police Department.
The incident took place on April 23, when police responded to the area of Falls Avenue and Sunnyside Avenue for the report of an adult victim who was kidnapped at gunpoint, Watertown police said.
An investigation into the incident found that the victim had met with a female at his residence and drove him a short distance from his residence. The victim reported that while the female was driving she stopped the vehicle on the side of the road and two males following in another vehicle entered the back seat of her vehicle, police said.
One of the men, later identified as Mohammed, pointed a Colt .45 handgun at the victim and asked for “the money and drugs," police said.
The victim reported that he was then taken back to his residence at which time Mohammed and another male forced him into his house. The victim reported that the males stole a large amount of cash, and some electronics, police added.
The men and the women then left, leaving the victim behind uninjured.
Detectives worked with the Bridgeport Gang Taskforce who were able to locate Mohammed at which time he was found to be in possession with drugs, police said.
Mohammed was held on the Bridgeport drug charges, arraigned in Bridgeport and held by the Department of Corrections.
On Wednesday, May 8, Mohammed was brought to the Waterbury Superior Court for arrest and arraignment and was held on $250,000.
He was also charged with intimidating a witness after detectives discovered Mohammed threatened the victim while the investigation was taking place, police said.
Mohamad was held on $370,000 bond following his arraignment on Wednesday.
The Watertown Police believe that this was a specifically targeted victim and not a random act of violence/opportunity. Detectives are still investigating the incident and more arrests are expected, the department said.
